I can give practical
one/two/three day or week long weaving courses in the following subjects:
DESIGNING
OFF THE LOOM : -
Designing on paper. Constructing weave diagrams, threadings and lifting
plans- based on 2/2 twill weave. Draw-downs. Colour and Weave effects
etc, etc!
COLOUR
IN FABRICS:
Day 1: Finding colour ideas, Designing stripes, Card winds, Card loom
samples. Preparing a warp for putting on the loom
Day 2: Taking the ideas discovered in day 1 and then Designing With Colour
on the loom.
UNDERSTANDING
WEAVE STRUCTURES!
The content of these courses are flexible but in general they follow the
following format:
Composite sample blankets are woven to illustrate the basic textures and
effects that can be achieved with the four shaft weaves.
Further days on the workshop will enable the student to experiment with
design techniques, which will develop these basic effects into original
fabric designs.
